Welcome to Autumn 2019

It’s autumn already and nearly time to batten down the hatches in your own cosy nook. We’re looking at ideas and inspiration to make your home a pleasure to hunker down in.

We often proudly point out that Kent has a special richness of historical architecture, and in this issue we are pleased to report on the restoration by locally-based specialists of two significant buildings at different ends of the county: The Compass House, a large Georgian property in Ramsgate High Street, and Manor Barn near Rochester which is considered to be the longest timber medieval structure in Britain.

It’s autumn already and nearly time to batten down the hatches in your own cosy nook. We’re looking at ideas and inspiration to make your home a pleasure to hunker down in, so we talk to interiors expert Derek Hall, painter and decorator Gary Miller and our own ‘Lady with the Lamp’ (apologies to Florence Nightingale!) who makes bespoke shades and cushions.

Enjoy the ‘season of mists and mellow fruitfulness’ before Winter darkens our doors!
