Welcome to Summer 2021

Summer’s arriving and we’re all looking forward to getting outside a bit more. This packed magazine may provide the perfect excuse to sit in the garden with a cuppa or glass of wine!

We have some inspiring articles including the tales of two fascinating but demanding building projects, one a rebuild in Whitstable sensitively tackled in a conservation area, and the other a conversion of an iconic Martello tower which was both on the At Risk register AND within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

We meet Julia Brendel, a hugely successful and original fabric designer who works from her studio in Kent. Among other interesting interviewees we also talk to Dee Jacyno, who imports beautiful willow products from Poland to grace your home and garden – a happy combination of traditional craft with the modern concern for sustainability.

Enjoy the magazine and the summer!
